San Giorgio is a historic business in the territory of Salento, founded in 1962 as a wine cooperative.
The Winery
San Giorgio, is now an important production reality in one of the most interesting wine regions in Italy and has received notable attention for the commitment to high quality grapes and wines. The symbol of San Giorgio is the "Torre Vinaria", a 21 meter white tower that houses 6 stores of vats, one underground and five above ground. Cement vats have become very popular again in recent years, primarily due to their capacity of maintaining the right temperature of the wines, thanks to the quality and thickness of the concrete.
As of 2020, a new production winery will be inaugurated in Faggiano (TA), a flagship in terms of modernity and automation, always keeping the quality and traditions of Apulian wines. What makes it even more interesting - with the new winery came the discovery of ancient tombs. They further connect it to the tradition and antiquity of the territory. San Giorgio is the line dedicated to innovation. This innovation is given above all by the new winery, completed in 2020 and equipped with cutting-edge production systems, along with continuous research and selections of grapes.
The wine was produced by gentle means according to the proven tradition of a thousand years of viniculture.
Our Experience
We brought these experiences back to our land, selecting the best areas and taking care of every aspect of the production. You can enjoy the results of this passion, in every single glass. Thanks to constant control according to the strict criteria of our oenologists, it was possible to harvest nothing but the finest quality in Italy’s golden months of late autumn.
The wine was produced by gentle means according to the proven tradition of a thousand years of viniculture, extracting the very best contents and flavours that make our wines what they are: full-tasting, fruity jewels of the art of wine-making, original and authentic, complex and pure. With hundreds of grape varietals to work with, Italian Wine can be fantastically diverse. Despite its role in spreading wine across Europe, Italian Wine was considered a rustic, country affair at the turn of the 20th century. Nothing could be further from the truth now as Italy produces some of the most sought after wines in the world. Nearly 50 million hl of wine is produced across every one of Italy's 20 regions from the Alps to just off the tip of Northern Africa.
